Founded by Dash and Subash, Hangout On Hay brings the spirit and warmth of the Himalayas to the heart of Subiaco. Originally from Nepal, Chef Subash, known as “Bass Bass”, brings years of international culinary experience across Nepal, Dubai, Asia, Africa and Australia.
Bass began his culinary journey at ICCA Dubai, building strong foundations in international cuisine, modern cooking techniques and professional hospitality. He later joined Emaar Hospitality Group, gaining luxury hospitality experience with Address Hotels + Resorts. His journey continued across Asia and Africa, including his role as Head Chef at Jones the Grocer in Dubai, where he developed expertise in modern café dining, premium brunch, fresh food concepts and customer-focused experiences.
In Australia, Bass worked at Sydney’s iconic The Grounds of Alexandria before moving to Perth. He joined Nic and Kolo as Head Chef, managing two venues and leading menu development, fusion cuisine, retail, catering, team leadership and high-quality dining experiences.
